About Shri Shani Dev Ji
न्याय, धर्म और कर्म के देवता
Son of Surya Dev and Chhaya Devi, brother of Yamraj, and the divine judge of every soul's karma.
Birth & Family
Shani Dev is the son of Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhaya Devi (the shadow form of Sanjana Devi). He is the elder brother of Yamraj and Yamuna. From birth, his deep concentration and devotion to Lord Shiva gave him a dark, powerful aura.
Why People Worship Shani Dev
Shani Dev is known as Nyay Ke Devta — the God of Justice. He neither rewards nor punishes; he simply returns to every soul the fruit of its own karma. Devotees worship him to gain patience, discipline, courage to face truth, and protection from past mistakes.
The Lesson of Slow Movement
Among all planets, Shani moves the slowest — almost 2.5 years in each rashi. This slowness is not weakness; it is depth. It teaches us that real growth, real wisdom, and real karma all unfold slowly. Shani Dev's grace, once earned through honest effort, lasts a lifetime.

Importance in Hindu Dharma
Shani Dev is one of the Navagraha (nine celestial deities). He governs karma, discipline, hard work, longevity, perseverance, and humility. Even devas and asuras have bowed before his judgement. He reminds us that no one — king or commoner — is above the law of karma.
